Puma x Kehinde Wiley Paris Exhibition Recap

Here’s the recap. “PUMA and Kehinde Wiley have been a fixture on the artist meets sports brand scene in the first month of this year as they have been collaborating with a focus on football in Africa. The American artist’s iconic style typically places subjects against unorthodox backgrounds, with strong African and African-American elements to the work. An exhibition of his recently opened up in Paris which also featured some of his footwear and apparel capsule with PUMA. The exhibition runs until February 7th at the Space Topography of Art, 15 rue de Thorigny in Paris.” by Eugene Kan

Puma presents: Of The Same Earth
“Artist Kehinde Wiley and PUMA jointly commemorated the Africa Cup of Nations 2010 with a series of artwork and products culminating with the PUMA Africa Unity Kit. In a video capturing the background of the project, the American artist took a trip to Africa to gather inspiration and converse with some of Africa’s biggest footballing superstars, Samuel Eto’o, Emmanuel Eboué and John Mensah. The journey includes a compelling look into the process of creating behind traditional African patterns, as well as strong aspects of Africa’s cultural landscape, such as music. The Africa Cup of Nations 2010 will conclude with a championship match featuring Ghana and Egypt on January 31st, 2010.” by Eugene Kan.
