Week 12 -The Gold Rush 2010
As Bart Graziana returns to the starting line up this week, he also has another match programme for us. The second edition of his “Maradona” dedicates comes at the right time, as Diego accepted the 4 year offer with the AFA. During tonight’s 3-touch practice, The Ringleaders will prepare for their match against the last place Panthers. The much aggressive opponent will have revenge on their mind due to their previous lost of 5-2 to the RFC, so stay tuned for more.

The WC thus far… By Rob Fox
O chaps,
As I’m chilling and browsing YouTube, count yourself invited to my World Cup round up.
As I’m sure many of you will know, a couple of months ago, Argentina were due to play a friendly in Munich against Germany (which Argentina eased to a 1:0 win in). At the pre-game press conference, Maradona walked off the podium as he refused to share a stage with “one of the ballboys”. Little did he realize, that “ballboy” was Thomas Mueller, the Bayern Munich midfielder. What makes the story even better is that Mueller has gone on to become possibly the revelation of this World Cup, inclusive of destroying England and Argentina. Real pity he’ll miss the semi-final against Spain following the harsh booking he received against Argentina.
Anyhow, here’s the video.
And just because, here’s Mueller’s hot missus.
I feel I should also defend Maradona, who’s been receiving criticism for Argentina’s exit from the competition. It’s hard to be angry at someone who I consider to be unparalleled in sport, and in my opinion, unquestionably the best footballer of all time. Watching him is as close to a religious experience as I’m likely to feel. In the below video, pay particular attention to 5:39-5:54. It’s the moment Maradona scores the second, decisive goal against England in the 1986 World Cup to eliminate us. In my mind, it’s the greatest goal that has been, or ever will be, scored.
Also, a couple of quick good ones.
If Germany needed any motivation to beat Spain, how about this video? Brilliant footage of the Spain players doing the conga behind Bastian Schweinsteiger’s interview, a mere few minutes after Spain had beaten them in the final of Euro 2008.
You have to see this!
And, here’s some footage of Brazil’s goalkeeper, Julio Cesar, been cradled by his mother in the back of a car, after arriving to some frenzied media back in Brazil following their elimination by Holland.
Ciao!

Patrick Eks a.k.a. Project Pat Mix
Project Pat, in this case a.k.a. Patrick Eks, sent me an email last week: “Malcolm McLaren, the notorious manager of the Sex Pistols, past away at 64. Remember the first project 45+3 with Maradona on the cover, well listen to track 20. That’s one of his. Classic material!” Just to brief you guys a bit, in April of 2006, The Ringleaders released four t-shirt designs, and a mixcd to celebrate the launch. Yes, Maradona was on the cover. some of us here at the RFC are completely insane about him. I’m not sure about Patterson or Edwin though… he he he… For those who don’t like Diego, stop playing God, stop judging, because last time I checked, you didn’t have one of these, these or these.

Gustavo
I’ve been cruising on Derived Thread, Johnny’s site, you know.
Interesting enough, Luca has his thing going on there too. I checked Gustavo’s recent trip to New York and saw this little magnet of Maradona.
A few things you should know about Gustavo:
-He’s a good kid. He’s from Paraguay.
-Paraguay will face Italy during this summer’s World Cup. If Italy loses the match, then Maura will punch Gustavo in the face.
-Gustavo should be playing soccer. The Ringleaders should sign him.
-Gustavo got me a World Cup 1994 official GREECE snap back cap, mint condition.

The number 10
Talking with Dr. Football yesterday about the “old days”. Complaining actually, how clubs nowadays just sign players in order to sell jerseys. The same player plays a few months and then transfers elsewhere. The jersey you bought? Well, almost goes to waste since the name printed on the back means nothing. Not to you, not to the fans, not to the club’s history either.
Playing in my village in Greece was an early life experience I deeply miss. All we cared about was the number 10 jersey, and playing the best we could possibly play. You see back then, clubs weren’t really promoting their stars that much. It was the people promoting them, on the stands, in the bars, and the youth on the street.
This is my very first “soccer jersey”, my beloved team Olympiakos. Yup, it’s a bootleg, bought on the block for most probably 20$. It meant everything to me, it changed my whole life. I felt strong, confident, I could dribble anyone, score from anywhere. At certain times I could be Pele. At other times I could be Maradona.
No photoshop tricks here, just raw photos. I’ll be doing more of these. Pour out my feelings about things… keep it raw. And I made sure the little carpet appeared on the right side there.
